Merry Christmas Everybody!
Despite 3AM's rigorous Christmas schedule, I've found time to visit my family for the holidays. It's the first day that I don't have to work in a very long time, and, of course, I'm feeling restless and unproductive. So I thought, "Why not write a blog entry?" I've been meaning to for a while. So here goes.
My name is Justin Hooper, Assoc. Artistic Director and Co-Production Manager. Yep, that's my full name, but you can call me Justin. Or Hoops. Whatever you like. A few things about me: Halloween is my favorite holiday, closely followed by Thanksgiving (pun intended). I once ordered $200 of McDonalds Playland balls and made my own ball pit in my closet. And I tell people that I am 5'11", but I have, in fact, never ever measured my height. Hopefully you'll get to know me more as 3AM continues to grow.
Speaking of 3AM, the scenery for Dumb/Sex is coming along nicely, thanks to our Technical Director Grant Merges and a handful of volunteers. Thank you Gunther Gullickson, Woody Wilson, and Boli Esselstrom. Michael Hoover has, yet again, blown me away with an amazing design. When you come to the show, opening Jan. 8th, you will surely be impressed.
Stacey Wenzel, our costume designer, recently attended a rehearsal. I've seen swatches and sketches and am very excited to see what she's got in store for us.
The only thing that isn't entirely on schedule is props. I guess thats what we get for trying to cut costs and putting...well...3AM's Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, and Managing Director in charge. Oops.
If you are interested in working for us in any capacity, or ever volunteering a bit of your time, please get ahold of us, even if we aren't hiring at the moment. I promise that we are very fun to work with.
Before I go, I'd like to give a shout out to my favorite Christmas show this season. Michael Sommers at Open Eye Figure Theatre always astounds me with The Holiday Pageant. For some reason, an entire year gives me time to forget all of my favorite parts.
